Sometimes all it takes is one really fun image to put a smile on your face first thing in the morning. The above image featured on Dorkly's website is from the creative hand of artist Alyssa Alecci. The comic strip is entitled "You know you've been playing too much Bioshock when..." Thanks to GP Ed James for the pic ;)

When it comes to video games and violence, DuelingAnalogs know where it's at. Although I've never actually thrown anything or punched anyone during a gaming session, I know people that have. And if you've ever been on a losing team on Xbox Live (especially playing any of the Halo or Call of Duty games), you will undoubtedly understand the reference to XBL in the comic strip. That place can sometimes be inhabited by the meanest of pit fighters and abuse-spouting mercenaries.

A not-so-subtle message from the brilliant Ctrl+Alt+Del team regarding piracy. It seems to me like it's a 'tug-o-war' between the two parties involved. Is there any room for those inbetween - the gamers like you and I? All I know is that if piracy continues, the methods to stop it will only become more and more restrictive and intrusive until eventually, gamers will be hurt one way or another.

Dorkly has done it again with their humor and game culture mash-up. This time it's "7 Terrible Ideas for Videogames," which features pure gems such as "The Game of Unskippable Dialogue" "No Save Points RPG" and "Tutorial Saga: Endless Instruction," - my personal favorite. If you could think of the worst possible idea for a videogame, what would it be? I'd have to say that unskippable dialogue would probably be the one that would kill me... I think that's one reason why I never caught onto JRPGs.

The Bulletstorm team have been busy little beavers creating parody video clips of some of the biggest shooters to date. Their first parody was entitled "Last Call" and played with the funny bone of Halo gamers. Their second parody pokes fun at the Call of Duty franchise which you can view above. "Duty Calls" is also a free downloadable game which you can download here. And the reason for doing this (quoted from an email sent from EA):
To underscore how Bulletstorm puts the fun back in the gun, EA is releasing parodies that poke fun at some of today’s most serious shooters. Read More
If you've ever played split-screen before you'll certainly sympathize with the guy under the blanket in the image above. While I think this is a rather extreme way of dealing with split-screen cheating, it certainly looks effective (even though he seems to be covering most of the other guy's screen in the process!) Although, I'd be inclined to think this could only work in the colder months of the year, to heck with doing that in Summer!

Ah Kinect. I'm sure the flickr pages and blogs worldwide were overloaded with people posting images of their favorite gaming moments using Kinect. It's great when gamers share their experiences and pics are exceptionally good. Like this one, for instance. I found this on a random website and thought I'd share it. There are others which all look equally as funny. I like how the website owner created the pics to look like postcards. Very cool!

This fun image of a 'Space Invader' was made from post-it notes on the window of a student at university. According to the creator, it was visible from the street. I've never considered creating a space invader out of my post-it notes but hey - you gotta admit, it's creative ;)

If you're in the business of reviewing games, you'll know that there are so many methods to use these days, one could be spoiled for choice. While quite a few game-related websites feature reviews that are created via YouTube, I'd like to wager that none would be as entertaining as this one. It is a parody so be aware that you will laugh (or smile at the very least), especially with the fantastic voice acting talent!

This Pac-Man was built completely from cans for an event held annually called 'Can-struction.' The event is organized for charity so all the canned food that is used is donated to those in need. Now that is one awesome way to mix gaming with charity and fun! The image comes from flickr user Mark Boulton.

I really liked what fourzerotwo had to say about this image: "Every game has its audience. It's OK if you're not it." It really struck a chord with me because like any other form of entertainment out there, people won't always agree that it's the right one for them. It stretches beyond gaming as well. If you look at the 'stereotypes' we are constantly bombarded with these days, it can sometimes be awkward admitting to people what you do for fun and expecting them to support it or agree with it. I recently posted the YouTube clip that features a group of Mom's reacting rather negatively to footage of Dead Space 2. When I checked some of the twitter comments for that post, this guy thought I should "turn my face inside out" because I was "supporting a stereotype." I was a little amused by the comment because I'm sure if he knew who I was, he might change his mind. A female gamer can become conditioned to violence in a video game the same way as any other gamer out there. We are no different, just people who like the same thing. Read More

I don't know who the original artist is for our Fun Pic of the Day but it put a smile on my face and I'm sure it will do the same for you. Unless of course you're the type of gamer that lives hardcore, breathes hardcore and considers real life to be the one final boss you still have to take down. Either way, ya'll should get the message which is - Real Life WILL Pwn You - it always does ;)

VirtualShackles create some very fun comic strips and I've featured a few of them here. Thinking of the whole Social Media wave everyone seems totally involved in these days, this comic is pretty spot on! So which plasmid will you be needing today? I'm kinda over Facebook but I use Twitter a fair bit - the Twitter Plasmid it is then! ;)

This funny video clip from Dan Meth and also featured on College Humor's website is a mash-up of various pop culture icons from the 80s - Nintendo style. There's a variety of images from famous (or infamous) 80s icons and events including Milli Vanilli, Arsenio Hall, Tianamen Square and the Berlin Wall:
There were some NES games that didn’t exactly leave their mark on history. And coincidently enough, they all are based on the events and pop culture of that era. You might have to take the cartridge out and blow in it to get this cartoon to work Hahaha. Read More
Today's pic looks at the very complex job of designing a video game and adds a little humour to it. And being of the female persuasion, I couldn't agree more with the steps required to design a female character! I think missed a few steps though ;)

This is my first post for 2011 so I thought I'd try to make it a fun one. As I kinda started the whole Game Culture "Fun Pic of the Day" last year, I thought I'd continue the tradition this year. I'm always on the lookout for fun gaming related pics so feel free to send linkage my way if you find any :)
I hope you all had a great Xmas and New Year! Here's to a brand new year of gaming mayhem and fun :)

How many times have you planned to play games all night when your significant other has unexpectedly ruined those plans? Too many to count, huh? Well today's fun pic will be something you can relate to :P
Edit: Changed some of the language in the pic for some of our more sensitive readers. Most of us would never swear about our significant others anyway. The original pic can be found here.

This well-made video clip uses footage taken from Halo: Reach and is over-the-top cheesy but really fun to watch. The clip was created by Chance and Alan who call themselves 'Chalan Marsalus,' and are listed as students at the University of California, San Diego. The clip has been featured on both Bungie.net as well as Kotaku so it's obviously all sorts of awesome.

Dorkly has come up with some funny pics relating to video game characters and how they'd deal with a tricky situation. This is how they think Master Chief would handle a TSA interrogation. There's also images of Samus Aran and others and you can view the entire article here. Personally, I'm not so sure MC would be so accomodating ;)

No this isn't a real game - sheesh! But it's the next best thing from the mind of the DrunkenMoogle who thought it would be fun to photoshop an image of what the game could look like if it were a real game. The DrunkenMoogle explains:
Sometimes you just don’t have the luxury of having a spare case of beer laying around to waste on drinking games. In that situation, it is time for hard liquor. All that is left to is grab some friends and a video game system. Then you have a party! A Mario Party, if you will. Read More

I can imagine this scenario might be common in alot of households where the guy is the gamer and the girl is the side-kick or just someone that doesn't play at all. And I can only imagine how frustrating a situation like this might be for you if your girl suddenly took an interest in your game. There's two ways to look at this; if you're the guy and the gamer, you could always try and get your gal involved more. That way she won't be looking at sneaking time behind your back with your favorite game. And it kinda goes without saying that if you're not being supportive of her gaming habits, she'll most likely continue her 'behind-your-back' behavior. Read More
It's amazing what you can do to your favorite photo with a few photoshop skills. Here's a creative look at what this tumblr poster calls "Mario spotted in the Wild." And I must say, that's one seriously huge mushroom! Mario seems to be pretty happy about that little find ;)

Infinity Ward's Creative Strategist Robert Bowling AKA fourzerotwo posted this clip from YouTube on his tumblr page showing a CoD gamer dancing away to Dance Masters. His caption says it all:
Now that Call of Duty: Black Ops is out, Modern Warfare 2’s GHOST is enjoying a little downtime…. or should I say, DANCE TIME!
I have but two things to say - a) Modern Warfare 2 still kicks butt and b) It must have been incredibly hard (not to mention DAMN hot) to dance in that CoD outfit!

I've never heard of YugiohCardMaker dot net but came across this Halo Spartan image created via the website. I don't play Yugioh in fact, I've never played it but I like the idea of creating your own cards, even if you know nothing at all about the game and will never use them. This particular card was created by Nixson and you can view his entire card gallery via his flickr website here.

The Daily Show is awesomely funny and their segment on the Violent Video Games debate looks at the very serious issue of violence in video games in a light-hearted way. The dude from the "You're Welcome" segment of the show is hilarious!

You know when you buy a product thinking you bought something great but you forgot about all the features that come with it - like cameras and things? Spare a thought for people like this guy who got a little too hot and bothered while playing Kinect Dance Central. Isn't it nice when consoles go the extra mile for you ;)
Disclaimer: I don't know if this is a true story or not. It seemed too funny to pass up so I just had to post it.
